In 2004, H&M launched its first designer collaboration with Lagerfeld. This unprecedented concept helped to blur the line between high and low fashion. Their success made collaborations with designers an annual part of their fashion calendar, with subsequent collections by Comme des Garçons, Lanvin and Maison Margiela.
According to Karl Lagerfeld's official website, the designer became one of the first freelancers in the fashion industry and spent his time working between France, Italy, England and Germany. The prolific designer Karl Lagerfeld died at the age of 85, but he leaves behind an impressive legacy.
